ThermalTag applies clever technology to provide safety and security for dogs, while allowing dogs and their owners the freedom to go anywhere, anytime, together.

The Situation

We frequently have to, or want to, bring our dogs in the car with us. However, there are many places we go that our pets are not allowed: stores, banks, post offices and the like. We are faced with the dilemma of needing to leave them behind when we step away from the vehicle. While cracking the windows may increase airflow, it does nothing to prevent heat or cold build up in the car.

ThermalTag allows us to stay connected to our dogs and ensures their lives are not at risk if they come along in the car.

The Problem

Every year, hundreds of dogs die in parked vehicles from heat exhaustion. A vehicle can quickly reach a temperature that puts a dog at risk of serious illness and death, even on a day that doesn’t seem hot.

Dog Physiology

Dogs have a higher body temperature than their owners. Their ability to process heat out of their bodies is very limited. Typically, only their tongues and their paws allow their bodies to disperse heat. Their bodies regulate their temperature by panting when hot. Compare this to human anatomy, which allows our entire body to perform this function.

Motor Vehicles

Our motor vehicles are small, enclosed spaces. Even on relatively mild days, say, 60°F, heat will build. In warmer weather (70°F and up), this heat build-up is very rapid. University studies show that in as little as 10 minutes, the heat in a motor vehicle can exceed 100°F. This is more than sufficient to harm or kill a dog through hyperthermia (overheating).

The ThermalTag Answer

ThermalTag does two things:

1. Protect your dog from the deadly effects of heat and cold, particularly when left in a vehicle.
2. Each time you start ThermalTag, you drop a “pin” at the vehicle location. Through your smartphone’s mapping system, you are guided back to your car, saving critical time in an emergency.

How It Works

The ThermalTag system consists of two patent-pending parts: THE UNIT and THE APP.

THE UNIT

• A small, durable, water resistant container that works for dogs of virtually all breeds and sizes. It measures less than 2″ X 2″ and weighs around 2 ounces. Using the attached stainless steel “O” ring, ThermalTag can be attached to any collar or harness design.
• Each ThermalTag comes with a replaceable battery, which typically provides up to 6 months of service. (Your app will give you battery updates and remind you when it is time to replace it.)
• ThermalTag is proudly Made in the USA, where production is made under strictly supervised conditions, with every unit inspected and certified to our demanding standards.

THE APP

• Simple and intuitive, it’s an easy-to- use app with distinctive icons that keeps you in two-way touch with your pet.
• The app supports iOS and Android.
• The app is Bluetooth (BLE) enabled, but through our patent-pending technology, ThermalTag allows you to venture beyond normal BLE range and enter buildings without losing connection. Rather than be limited to hundreds of feet with Bluetooth, ThermalTag works at any distance.
